You will receive both a Hospital Bill and a Physician Bill.
Patients should expect to receive TWO (2) bills from their Emergency Department visit: One from Sutter Health (the “hospital bill”) and one from Berkeley Emergency Medical Group (the “physician bill”).

The Hospital Bill
If you have questions or issues with your Sutter Health hospital bill, you should contact Sutter Health billing at (855) 398-1633 or go the Sutter Health Billing and Insurance website: https://www.sutterhealth.org/for-patients/billing-insurance
The Physician Bill
Berkeley Emergency Medical Group (BEMG) bills for professional services rendered during emergency department visits at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. This is the physician bill. Our contracted billing company, Brault, manages our billing operations for professional services provided by our physicians.
When complete and accurate insurance information is provided, your insurance will be billed. An itemized statement of charges for professional service will be sent to the guarantor usually within 2 weeks.
How to Pay the Physician Bill
Your physician bill can be paid online by going to Brault’s billing portal, PatientOnlinePay.com. From their menu, click on BILLPAY and make a One Time Payment.
Brault also offers the option to pay by text message, using an app called Papaya QuickPay. You can learn more about this on Brault’s website.
How to Update your Insurance Information
You can update the insurance information on file by going to Brault’s billing portal, PatientOnlinePay.com. From their menu, click on INSURANCE.
